The Guardian Brain Foundation celebrated their 8th annual Butterfly Ball at the Carltun. This year we were proud to honor Kay Murcer and the loving memory of Bobby Murcer. Kay has been the wifeand partner of Bobby Murcer for 42 years. Bobby played in pinstripesfor 13 seasons and has remained a member of the organization asmanagement, coach and broadcaster for 25 years.
As the evening begun R. J. Lewis greeted everyone on stilts inpinstripes, then sang take me out to the ball game. Robin Tirsunwelcomed everyone with a heartwarming speech thanking The GuardianBrain Foundation for their support in helping her daughter Danielle whowas diagnosed with a brain tumor. Mary Pallotta the founder and President thanked the many sponsors expressly our philanthropist TheNew York Yankees, continued supporters and volunteers for their dedication. Ira Kaufman a board member gave a champagne toast and
explained the importance of support services when you are diagnosed
with a brain tumor. He is an eleven year survivor.
This was an eloquent evening with fine food, Chinese auction with over
60 items and great people who make a difference in this fragile world.
There was the fabulous D J Bill, Wendy the pipe cleaner lady who
created things with her crafts, Michael from Milometer photography, all
who volunteers their time.
Awards were given to the Golden Guardians: Tina Dupius from Salon T
raised over $12,445, and Robin Tirsun whose Chinese Auction and bracelets created by daughter Danielle raised over $15,103. Kathy Brunelle has brought our
“Butterfly Kisses and get well wishes“ all the way to Florida and has
started raising hundreds of dollars for TGBF.
We are so very proud of the steady growth of The Guardian Brain
Foundation. There are not many organizations who can say they are
volunteers for eight years. We believe in the quality of life and
sharing compassion. We provide direct support to children and adults
with injuries and tumors of the brain. We are looking forward to
embrace all the hard work and dedication the next year will bring. We
celebrate life and good people who truly make a difference!
